Huntingdon Valley Lets Goodman's Gem Go To Waste in 3-1 Loss to Horsham in Extra Innings

Huntingdon Valley Lets Goodman's Gem Go To Waste in 3-1 Loss to Horsham in Extra Innings

Huntingdon Valley (HV) received a complete game pitching performance from Ross Goodman (8 innings, 3 Strikeouts) to only see it go to waste as missed opportunity's lead to a 3-1 extra innings loss to Horsham. HV had more then enough chances to put this game in the win colum to only see a tough Horsham team steal it from them.

Horsham started the scoring in the 3rd inning when #22 Benji Abercrombie knocked in #13 Anthony Mumenthaler. HV fought back, like it seems to do often in the early parts of this season, and scored when #16 Matthew Lawlor scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 1-1.

As the game went back and forth both pitchers seemed to settle in to a nice flow. Horsham's #5 Zach Crim found his grove and was at some points untouchable.

Both teams had a great chance to score in the 6th inning. Horsham stranded runner on 3rd after HV's Paul Buckley started what turned out to be a 6-4-3 double play. HV turned 3 double plays on the day one of which was an incredible play by Chris Ruhl (1 for 1, Double, Stolen Base).

HV's best chance to win the game came in the bottom of the 7th inning when with one out HV had a runner on third base to only leave him stranded there to close out the inning.Horsham but the game away in the top of the 8th inning when with 1 out #11 Ryan Kelly hit 2 run single. HV had nothing to answer with in the bottom of the inning.

"Well you cant expect to win every game but this one is hard to swallow, my boys feel that every game is theirs and if it doesn't go their way they aren't happy" Coach Evan Horn said, "Ross Goodman takes the ball and throws a gem like that and let it go to waste....that stinks" Horn continued "We all have the same goal here as a team and that is to do what ever it takes to win games. These kids give me all they have and that's all I can ask for. Goodman gave me everything he had plus a bag of chips and that's ok but it would have been even better with the Win"

HV plays a doubleheader on Saturday at Warminster.
