Buckley Throws Shutout, Complete Game in 7-0 Victory Over Cedarbrook

Huntingdon Valley (HV) used a complete game shutout from Paul Buckley on its way to its Eighth victory of the season. HV used a 4 run first inning in costing to the 7-0 victory over Cedarbrook. Buckley received 4 douple plays from its defense lead by team captain Rafael Fernandez and Cal Palmer and a Homerun by Lower Moreland Junior Jordan Pocrass.

"This is the Buck (Buckley) that I know" Head Coach Evan Horn said, "This season he really hasn't had his best stuff but tonight he was on and when he is on he is really hard to hit. I think that the long college season really hurt him early in our season but he seems to be more fresh now and we will need that moving forward. J-Poc (Pocrass) hit another bomb and that is always nice to see because that kid is such a great one. The best part of the homerun was seeing his mothers face with a smile"

HV didnt have to put the ball in play to start the game as CB's starting pitcher Erik Walther didnt have his best stuff and walked 4 batters and also hitting one. Walther lasted only one out which is uncharicaristic for the CB ace.

"Erik (Walther) didnt have his best stuff tonight. I know him personaly and could see it was going to be a long day when he walked the first 2 batters on 9 pitches because comand is something he needs to be effective" Horn who coaches against Walther during the high school season continued "I told my players that he has great control and likes to change speeds and always throws strikes so it was not the best I have seen from him and we are lucky he was off that is for sure"

Brian Buckley and Jack Titus lead the way for the offense with 2 hits.

HV next plays on Sunday against Roslyn away 5:00 when it sends Sean Weiss 3-0, 0.49 ERA to the hill

"Playing Roslyn is always a championship game for us because we seem to struggle against them" Horn continued "Through the years you will always have a team that you just dont play well against and they always seem to play better against your team and that is Rosyln"
