Camp Goes All 12 Innings as Huntingdon Valley Beats The Morelanders in Extra's 6-4

Brain Camp (12 innings pitched, 0 earned runs, 9 strike outs) pitched all 12 innings on Friday night as Huntingdon Valley (HV) used a key hit and run off the bat of Cal Palmer (1 for 4) and a game winning single from Nick Rittler (3 for 6, 2 rbi's) to get past a tough Morlanders team 6-4 on Friday night. Camp improved to 4-0 on the young season and is surly pitching his way to being one of the top hurlers in the league. In a game that took 3 hours and 27 minutes to complete and had more drama then a Broadway show HV found yet another way to win as they moved to 5-3 on the season.

HV scored first in the 1st inning when Jessie Goldstein (1 for 3) was hit by a pitch and then came around to score when Lower Moreland Senior and team captain Jake Madnick smacked a run scoring double over the center fielders head.

The Morlanders scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning to take, at that point, a commanding 4-1 lead. The Morelanders received a 2 run single off the bat of #2 Snyder and a 2 run double off the bat of #12 Valenza.

HV fought back like it has all season and scored a single run in the 3rd inning when Lower Moreland Junior Rob Hoffman ( 1 for 5, run scored) doubled to left field and scored on a rbi single by Rittler. HV plated 2 more runs in the 5th inning after Holy Ghost Junior Paul Buckley and Lower Morland Senior and team spark plug Jared Licht scored runs.

As the game went back and forth with both teams having several chances to score runs the games most dramatic moment happened in the bottom of the 10th inning when The Morelanders had runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Camp struck out the next hitter and got a sharp hit ground ball to C.Palmer at shortstop for the 2nd out. After an intentional walk Camp showed his toughness yet again and struck out the next hitter.

HV won the game in the top of the 12th inning when Buckley lead off with a walk. C.Palmer advanced him to 3rd and a beautiful hit and run. Buckley then scored the winning run when Rittle beat out an infield single. HV tacked onto the total after a bases loaded walk to Madnick.

"I cant say enough about Brian (Camp) to be honest. This young man just wants to win games. He doesn't care if he has to pitch 20 innings he wants to have a chance to help the team win" HV Coach Evan Horn said, "Brian is a sure throwback player, he has great conditioning, takes care of his body, runs everyday between starts, throws long toss and has one "huge" heart. About 12 times I wanted to pull him out because of the high pitch count and Brain kept saying, please don't take me out I have another one (inning) left in my Please Please Please. Yes it was very hard to throw him out their inning after inning but the Horse wanted the ball and deserved to have it"

"We keep fighting back in games and winning them, this is truly building character for us as we expect to win these type of games. These kids have something special here this season and we are riding the momentum at this point"

HV is right back at it with the tough Morlanders on Sunday evening at home 5:00. HV sends Southpaw Ross Goodman to the mound.
