Johnson and Madnick Lead The Way as Huntingdon Valley Beats Cedarbrook 12-2

Huntingdon Valley (HV) pounded out 13 hits in beating Cedarbrook 12-2 today at Lower Moreland High School. HV seems to be hitting its stride as the playoffs come upon them. HV received 3 doubles off the bat of Team Captain Jake Madnick (3 for 3, 3 doubles, 2 RBI's, 3 Runs Scored) and a complete game from Daniel Johnson (5 IP, 4 Hits, 0 Earned Runs, 5 K's, 0 Walks). With the win it puts HV in a tie for 1st place with a 11-5-1 record and a total of 23 points.

"My battery (Madnickand Johnson) had one hell of a game today" Coach Evan Horn said, "I have been waiting all season for Jake (Madnick) to turn it on. He has really started to smoke the ball the last 4 games. When he is hitting well he is even a better catcher and great at calling games. DJ (Johnson) today showed what I thought he was going to be the entire season and that is a great control pitcher (20 balls all day) and when needed he was nasty.

HV fell behind in the first inning but they didn't let it bother them at all they responded with 3 runs in the 1st, 5 runs in the 2nd, a single run in the 3rd and 3 runs in the 4th. The 10 run lead after the top of the 5th ended the game.

In the home 1st Rafeal Fernandez (2 for 3, 2 runs scored) who is coming off an injury that sidelined him for 2 weeks, singled. Then with 2 outs Matt Meyers (1 for 2, 2 RBI's, 2 Runs Scored) walked to bring Madnick to the plate. Madnick hit a run scoring double to make the score 1-0. Chris Ruhl (1 for 1, 2 RBI's, Run Scored) then ended the scoring in the inning when he drove both Meyers and Madnick in to make the score 3-0

The home 2nd was the biggest of the day for HV. They plated 5 runs. The biggest blow came from Meyers as he drove a 2-run triple and then Madnick drove him in with 1 of his 3 doubles on the day. The score was 8-1 entering the 3rd inning.

The 3rd inning was another inning that HV put a run on the board. Paul Yannessa (2 for 4, 2 RBI's, Run Scored)drove in Fernandez who had earlier singled.

The bottom of the 4th inning HV put up 3 runs and then used Johnson to shut the door and end the game. Matt Lawlor (1 for 1, RBI) singled in a run along with Matt Hyman (1 for 1, RBI) to end the scoring

"We came to play today" Horn said, "If we come out like we did today we are going to be tough to beat. I tell me boys all the time that with our pitching and the middle of the line up book ended by the Palmer Twins we are going to be tough to beat. I hope we continue this through the playoffs that is for sure"

HV next plays Warminster on Tuesday Away at 6:00
