Huntingdon Valley Uses 4-Run 7th Inning to Get Past Horsham 7-3

Huntingdon Valley (HV) used a huge 4-run 7th inning to get past a tough Horsham team 7-4 today. Horsham playing with mostly back up players due to the fact that the high school team is in the state semi finals was very hard to deal with. HV pitcher Jake Yannessa (5 Ip, 3 Hits, 7K's)  and HV closer Paul Buckley (2 Ip, 1 Hit, 1K) held Horsham to 4 hits while playing catch up all game long.

"Well all I can say is the Horsham Junior Legion team must be really good because from what I saw out on the field today I was very impressed" Coach Evan Horn said "To think that it took a 4 run 7th inning to get past this team lets you know that. Jamie (Horsham Head Coach) has a great team coming up for years to come lucky him"

Horsham scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to take a fast 2-0 lead. HV cut the lead in half in the top of the 3rd when Jake Madnick (2 for 2, 2 RbI's) singled in Lou Palmer (3 for 4) to only have Robert Hoffman (1 for 4) thrown out at the plate. Horsham scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to take a commanding 4-1 lead.

HV would put single runs up in the 4th and 5th innings getting RBI's from Rafael Fernandez 1 for 3, 3 RBI's) and Jordan Pocrass (1 for 4, 1 RBI).

The scoring would stop until the top of the 7th inning when with 1 out Matt Meyers (1 for 4) singled to leftfield. Jack Titus was brought in the pinch run for Meyers and stole 2nd base then advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch. Team Captain Jake Madnick drove him in with a run scoring double to tie the game. After Pocrass flied out, the ever improving Paul Buckley lined a game winning single to right field. After a pitching change, Cal Palmer (1 for 3) walked then came around to score when Fernandez drove them both in to make the score 7-4. HV closer Buckley shut the door on Horsham to close the game out.

"That 7th inning shows that these kids just dont quit. Our attitude is really improving as the season goes along" a happy Coach Horn said "To see Buck (Buckley) and Raf (Fernandez) come up big is fun to watch. It seems like every game it is someone else stepping up"

HV has a doubleheader Sunday against Roslyn.
