Titus And Hoffman Lead The Way as Huntingdon Valley Earns Split With Horsham

Huntingdon Valley (HV) used a 5-run 5th inning in game 2 to earn a well deserved split with Horsham (HH) on Sunday afternoon. After HV dropped the first game 13-1 it bounced back in Game 2 to post a 5-4 win.

Trailing 4-0 entering the home 5th inning HV posted 5 runs lead by a 2-run broken bat double off the bat of Rob Hoffman (1 for 3, 2 RBI's)

In game 2 with HV trailing 4-0 it posted 5 runs in the home 5th inning. The inning started when Jack Titus, who was pinch hitting, singled to center field. Nick Rittler followed with another single to make it first and second. Matt Lawlor (2 for 2, run scored, RBI) doubled in a run to plate the first run of the game for HV. With the score 4-1 Cal Palmer (1 for 3) followed with a bunt single to load the bases. After a Lou Palmer walk to make it 4-2 Hoffman came up with the biggest hit of the season a 2 run scoring double to tie the game at 4. After a failed bunt Mario Incollingo drove in the final run of the game with a sacrifice ground out.

"It was great to see my future star catcher (Titus) start that ralley" Coach Evan Horn said, "Jack (Titus) had a rough first game but he didnt let it bother him. He started that 5 run inning and it was great to see that huge smile on his face. I use this line a lot with my boys but I really feel this way about Jack, He is a true joy to coach and also an honor"

"Hoffman's hit the biggest I have seen him come up with in 2 years. Hoff is a gamer, loves the game, respects the game and gives a business like effort" Horn said, "I was joking with him about how often he breaks his bats (broke a bat in the first game) and with a proud face told me it lasted him over a year. Funny thing happened with the new bat in the second game it broke also but im sure it was well worth it but you never know what goes through the head of Hoff"

The 5-run 5th inning made a winner of Ross Goodman (5 IP, 5 Hits, 5 Walks, 5 Strikeouts). HV used a 2 inning save by Paul Buckley (2 IP, 1 Hit, 2 Strikeouts) to close the door on HH.

"Ross (Goodman) always pitches great and gives me 100% effort" Horn continued, "It was nice seeing him pick up his 2nd win of the season. When you have Buck (Buckley) to close the door it is a real plus. Buck has really excepted the closer role"

HV raised its record to 8-5-1 and sits in 2nd place with 17 points.
