Meyers 3-Run Homerun and Great Pitching By Yannessa Lift Huntingdon Valley to a 5-3 Victory

Huntingdon Valley (HV) received a 3-run 7th inning home run by Matthew Meyers (3 for 4, HR, 3 RBI's) to break a 2-2 tie with The Morelanders (More) and make a winner of Jake Yannessa (6 IP, 3 Hits, 7 K's) in a Lower Monto Senior Legion baseball game tonight. The game was tied at 2 when Meyers stepped to the plate and delivered the game changing hit.

"Wow what a game and what an ending" Coach Evan Horn said after the dramatic ending "The Morelanders got down early and I kept saying to my boys that they weren't going to quit and I was right they tied the game. I have to take my hat off to Ness (Yannessa) who threw his heart out tonight but the big blow was that 400 foot plus Home Run "Mr. Nasty" (Meyers) hit"

HV jumped out to a quick 1-0 when Lou Palmer (2 for 3, 3 runs scored) came around to score when Yannessa (3 for 3, RBI, Run Scored) doubled. HV then made it 2-0 when Palmer again scored when Meyers singled him in.

"Lou (Palmer) seemed to be in the middle of everything tonight" Horn said "I have always loved to lead him off because he does a great job of working pitchers and seems to always be on base. In school he was more of a run producer where here he needs to be on base for us to be successful"

The Morelanders cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the 5th and tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the 6th.

The dramatic top of the 7th inning started when with 1 out L.Palmer singled and after a steal of 2nd base and fly out by Rob Hoffman The Morelanders choose to intentionally walk Yannessa to face the hot hitting Meyers who launched his 3-run home run.

HV is at it again tomorrow as it faces a really tough Fort Washington team who is in 3rd place.
